Bio
Havana Florida based artist, Mark Georgiades has been honing his skills as a sculptor and a painter for many years. He blends his skills as a mechanic and his love of art to create his welded metal sculpture. Mark works with steel, copper and aluminum which is welded together to form his unique structure. Markʼs inspiration comes from nature and fantasy. He likes to create edgy work, usually distorting the size and proportion of his subjects. Mark uses color and the illusion of motion to create “mood” within his sculptures. While Mark has always been involved in his art to some extent in the past, he as been focusing primarily on his art since 2014.
Artist Statement
From an early age I had a desire to create. I distinctly remember as a child, I was inspired by a massive bronze sculpture in Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida. Art evokes emotion in me and I want to create works of art that do that to others. Whether it be a certain mood or emotion. Through my work I have the desire to turn my imagination into something three dimensional. My imagination has been fueled by nature and fantasy. I love using metal because there are so many different textures that can be emulated. I do enjoy working with other media as well.
